Quilled Shagun Envelopes

Image
Hello my lovely readers Welcome back, I received an order for shagun envelopes for a wedding occasion. She requested them in different designs and in 2 colors for base envelope. I used yellow and red as the base color for the envelopes. The sheet used was a designer patterned embossing sheet. Created 5 designs consisting of floral pattern and Ganesha. Ganesha is considered auspicious for a good start to anything new. These envelopes are used in Indian Weddings to give currency notes as gift for various wedding rituals. Design Set 1 Both the sets had three similar sort of designs consisting of Ganesha, single flower and double flower in coordinating colors. Design Set 2 The pattern for Ganesha is really simple and will explain the tutorial in the next blog separately. Here my focus is on the floral envelopes. One can use these floral designs for any occasion gifting. All the quilling has been done using 3mm quilling strips. Design 1 This design is a

Paper Quilled Wedding Invitation

Image
Hello my lovely readers Welcome back after the festive week. Last week was so busy with all the preparations for Rakshabandhan and celebratory mood that it took me a while to post a new blogpost. I have done few wedding invites in quilling and this one was for my college friend. I received a customized order for a handmade wedding card from Preksha. She wanted me to design a card with quilling to be given to Ankur's family. So, I made a quick card with the details requested by her. Here's how the card looked at final step. Since she knew how lazy I am at such works even though I enjoy doing it, she gave me a long time to plan and I still conceptualized it till I reached the deadline.😁 So, the quick thing was to find a template for the card. I really like the printables available online. So I found this really interesting RSVP template Artisan Botanical , fully customisable and free to download and edit. They have explained in detail about how to print and edit t

Paper Quilling Birthday Card

A warm hello to all my readers. This post is about a simple colorful floral card quilled for the occasion of Birthday. I love this sunny yellow card with colorful flowers. The leaves have been punched using Jeff punch. 3 in 1 corner rounder for 10mm round edges of the base card. White paper doily of 3.5" adorns the flower bouquet. The inside of this A5 card is blank to write your personal message.  Blue, Orange and Pink flowers have been quilled in marque shaped coils with a tight coil centre using 3mm quilling strips. Yellow flower has been made using tight coils shaped in teardop. Mustard flower is a teardrop shaped 6 petal flower. All the flowers have been adorned using flatback pearls. The quilled leaves are also marque (eye) shaped. The purple is my favorite when it comes combining with yellow color. So the birthday banner has been made from purple cardstock with handwritten sentiment. The envelope was also handmade from a printable av

Friends Forever Quilled Card

Hello friends,  Welcome back after a long break. I was not keeping well and hence couldn’t upload a post. But here I am today with another favorite  card of mine.  It’s a simple card I made for friendship day. With friendship day just around the corner on 4th of August in just 2 days, I thought of sharing this easy and quick quilling card for your BFF. You always gift your best friends gifts, chocolates and bands. Try making a handmade card this time. It really adds up the special touch to your friendship.  Front of the card This card has the same fringed flower I shared about in my last post. For detailed tutorial refer to my previous fringed flower bookmark post For the base of the card I have used 120gsm Blue cardstock and a white paper doily of 5.5"   Over the paper doily I made a flap using 200gsm black cardstock. Some details on the front of flap The flap in the front shows a picture of two girls holding hands. And once opened, i

Fringed Flower Bookmarks

A warm hello to all my lovely readers. It’s a pleasure to have you here for my next post. Today's post is about my favorite  technique in quilling known as  Fringing!  It’s a simple technique without requiring much of tools. I t is easy and inexpensive since it can be made from just one strip. There are tools available for making fringes. They are called quilling paper fringers. I do not have a fringer so I fringe the paper by hand with a pair of scissors. Once you get used to fringing with hand you will not require any tool for the purpose.  In my free time I fringe strips of various colors and roll them as and when needed for projects. It does take a long time initially but with practice you can get to do 2 strips in one go. Try cutting your own width of strip to practice making flowers. One can use paper clip to not overcut the strip and keep margins. For a detailed post about the fringing tutorial  refer to Inna's blog . She has explained the concept in depth and

Quilled Gift Box Card

Image
A warm hello to all my readers. I was searching through my collection about what to share as a start to  my Quilling posts. I happen to find this simplest of my creation, made for a dear friend on his Birthday. This card is simple with not much quilling, but the effect of a 3D gift box was what made me really like the end product. The size of the card is A3 and is a 3 Fold Card. I managed to make it a Pop-Up Card by adding a cake with candles pop-up drawing. It was made easy with the online template available. With printable it was a piece of cake to print, cut, color and assemble the entire pop up. For the Pop up card template I used in this project checkout this link on wikihow tutorial for pop up cake . The sentiments on the card were handwritten and the message was written in French Script font. Sharing some work in progress pictures of my work that I found in my drive. I am really bad at drawing and mostly prefer printable template for a project. But for

My world of Paper Quilling

Image
A warm hello to all my readers.  Welcome to my world of Paper Quilling. This is my first ever blog and it’s all going to be about my journey as a paper crafter.  As a kid I was always amazed at the alluring art of turning paper into beautiful crafts. When I learnt about the magic of  quilling, I strived to master it.  Paper Quilling or Paper Filigree as known earlier, is an art form that involves the use of paper strips that are rolled, shaped and glued together to create beautiful artworks. This is not only my favourite hobby but works as a great stress buster for me. I have been perfecting paper quilling for almost 7 years now. In these 7 years I have learnt numerous the techniques of quilling through various tutorials by some of the famous crafters around the world.  But the person who made me step into this amazing world of  paper quilling craft is my best friend Srishti. She is a Jewellery Designer and an avid art and craft lover.  She made an exquisite greeting ca
